What to expect when you reach out

How Our Network Works

Who You Talk To

You talk to an independent local provider, not to a staff member of Authorsrough Plumbing. Each provider runs their own business. They decide what they can take on, what the work involves and what it costs. We simply make the first introduction.

What Happens After You Reach Out

First, you describe the problem. Say where the water is, what you hear or smell, and whether you have found the shutoff. Next, a provider in our network follows up. They may ask a few questions about your home, such as whether it has a basement, a sump pump or older pipes. Then they explain what they can do and give you an estimate.

Call hours vary by provider. Request a callback to check provider availability in your area. If you would rather write, send an estimate request instead.

What to Ask a Plumber

If this is your first plumbing problem, these questions help:

  • Are you licensed and insured where I live?
  • What do you think is causing this?
  • Will you give me a written quote before starting?
  • What could change the price once you see the pipe?
  • Is there a permit needed, and who handles it?
  • Do you offer a warranty on the work?
  • Can you help document the damage for my insurance claim?

Typical U.S. costs vary a lot by job. A simple drain clearing may cost far less than a sewer line repair that needs digging. Get the price in writing.

You Are in Control

Talking to a provider does not commit you to anything. You can ask questions, compare more than one estimate and take your time on work that is not urgent. If water is actively flowing, shut off the main valve first, then call. A provider can walk you through what to do while you wait.
